Question: Why do Cockatoos Bathe?

ATTENTION. THE BEAUTIFUL WHITE COCKATOO HAS RECEIVED A QUESTION. EVERYONE LOOK AT THE BEAUTIFUL WHITE COCKATOO.

Marv, there is no link to your ``favorite musician'' - just a blank white square. Can you give more precise directions please?

I was also surprised to learn that Maynard required bathing; I had always assumed that birds, like cats, bathe themselves. Or is Maynard unusually delicate for a cockatoo?

I will pretend I did not see the reference to the unimportant grey object.

Cockatoos exist for three reasons. To be admired. To be squeezed. And to make dust. We grow it in tiny feathers on our backs and spread it around so that even when we are gone, there is a lovely residue to remind you of us. And when we make more dust than we need, a primate comes and sprays us with the hose to make room for more.

SOMEBODY SPRAY THE COCKATOO WITH THE HOSE! AND THEN LET THE COCKATOO SHAKE ITS FEATHERS SO YOU GET A SHOWER TOO!

Cockatoos are beautiful. But they also like to share.

Here is a video.

Do you look like the bird in the video - the beautiful cockatoo with the huge crest? Hmmmm? Do you have a sister? I'm looking for a "friend". I'm a handsome male cockatoo with a large wingspan (yeah, baby).....if you are not a female, (since Maynard isn't a female name) can you give me the number of a few babes in your black book of birds? I'm new to the area and am looking for some companionship, if you get my meaning.....

Well a hose is better than being thrown out with the bath water.

Steve - quit your day job.

Just let Maynard go on the road!

Perhaps a slot on American Idol to start?

Thanks for the explanation, Maynard. BTW that's quite a video you've posted of yourself. I had no idea that you were a disciple of Mlle. Loie Fuller:

Marv- I have heard of other african greys (like n'kisi) showing unusually accurate speech recognition and even precognitive abilities.

Do you have any superpowers?

Two parrots sharing the responsibility for blogging, and you haven't posted since 3/29?

I dunno about bathing, but - what do you guys do all day long? Can't take 10 minutes out of your busy day and write up a new entry?

Geesh.

I worship Marvin, but I have a question for the Cockatoo.
Are you a AM bird or a night bird?

Good morning answer bird. I have just welcomed a 3 month old Triton, my first big baby. I am trying to be the best gaurdian I can and hand feeding Zues baby food. However, sometimes it gets messy and drips on his beautiful white feathers directly under his beak. (carrots are the worst). How should I clean the stains Water alone doesn't seem to get it out from simply spraying him w/the hose.

Dear Answer Bird, What is the best way to get baby food stains off a 3 month Triton's pretty white feathers other than simply spraying them with water mist? (still hand feeding)
